At Devex, global development professionals are our customers. These humanitarian, health, and sustainability professionals are out there -- sometimes at great personal sacrifice -- trying to make things better in this world. Our job is to help them do their essential jobs better. That means putting their needs front-and-center in everything we do. We work to help them advance in their careers, secure funding for their mission, and understand a complex and dynamic marketplace. This is a community we’re honored to serve.
It’s easy to feel great about what we do at Devex. We’re constantly running into people who found a job through us, got funding for their NGO, or gained important insights from our reporting. But ultimately our social enterprise exists to make an impact for people in need.
Even as we serve professionals, we set our sights on creating long-term sustainable development impact that leaves no one behind.
Devex sits at the intersection of two rapidly changing fields: global development and digital media. The change is so fast it can be disorienting.
But we’re looking to the future for every opportunity to better serve our community and make more impact. That means constantly innovating, being open to new ideas and feedback, and putting ourselves out there with humility.
Working together is easy to say, but can be hard to put into practice. Devex is a diverse global team working across the world in different offices and with different functions. It’s so important to keep egos in check, respect every role, give trust, and err on the side of transparency and over-communicating.
Only when talented professionals show vulnerability, solicit advice, and ask for help can we truly work together as one team with a singular mission.
In a modern era of tremendous progress and technological advancement, most people barely scrape by, half of all people don’t have access to essential medical services, and the climate is headed in a disastrous direction.
As the world’s media platform dedicated to these issues -- and with the Sustainable Development Goals due in 2030 -- we wake up every day feeling a tremendous sense of urgency.
