Transportation
When you get to Nairobi, one of your highest priorities should be to find several strategically based cab drivers who are friendly, reliable, and will charge you reasonable prices.
There are rarely any metered cabs, so you’ll have to sharpen your negotiation skills. Make sure you negotiate before getting in the car.
How much a trip should cost
- Short rides (Ex: Within the same neighborhood): KES 300
- Medium rides (Ex: From Westlands to Kilimani): KES 400 - 600
- Long rides (Ex: From Kilimani to Gigiri or Westlands to Karen): KES 700 - 1,200
- Cab from anywhere in Nairobi to the airport is around KES 1,500 - 1,800
Day rates & negotiated multi-stops can also be reasonable (2000-4000 within town)
