Refining the approach

Devex @ UNGA 78

Sept. 19-21, 2023

New York City & Online everywhere

About the Event

Join Devex on Sept. 19-21, for a series of events in New York City on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly and the UN High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage.

This year marks the halfway point in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, a blueprint for a better world that U.N. member states adopted in 2015. While advocates call for unprecedented investment, collaboration, and innovation to achieve these goals by 2030, critics argue the SDGs are unrealistic or irrelevant, pushing for new priorities.

But everyone can agree on this: the context for achieving the SDGs has changed since the goals were first adopted 8 years ago. So how can we reframe the SDGs, and refine our approach, in order to make progress on these goals?

On the afternoon of Sept. 20 and 21, we’ll host our Devex news summit, where we’ll feature leaders who can offer insights on ways to respond to some of the most disruptive forces in international development, from the worsening economic crisis to the growing influence of technology and artificial intelligence.

Health will be a major focus, as this year’s UNGA gathers leaders for high-level meetings on UHC, as well as tuberculosis and pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response. We’ll also take stock of climate action, as the time remaining to achieve the SDGs aligns with what has been called the critical decade for climate action.

On Sept. 19, and in the mornings on Sept. 20 and 21, we’ll host additional events with our partner organizations, which we invite you to attend as well. You’ll have the opportunity to select which events you’d like to participate in on the registration form. Learn more about these events below!
