What to expect

On October 21, 2014, Devex is once again bringing together all of the players in international development to discuss the future of partnerships in development, this time in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The day will feature speakers from donor agencies, international aid agencies and regional African development organizations as they explore best practices and latest trends in proposal partnerships. The day will host various networking opportunities, panel discussions and workshops which will dive into the most relevant topics and questions around how to develop successful partnerships for sustainable development in the region.


Who should attend & how to apply

Attendance to the Partnerships Forum is by invitation only. If you are an Africa-based organization implementing development projects throughout the region, we invite you to apply here.

Delegates to the Partnerships Forum are CEOs, directors of business development, team leads, chiefs of party and recruiters from organizations working in development fields such as health, conflict mitigation, agriculture, mobile technology, etc.

Opening Plenary Discussion

The Partnerships Forum commences with a high-level panel that will set the stage for the day's discussion. The panel will directly address the issue of localization of global development and how all stakeholders are changing the way they do business.

Concurrent Panel Sessions

Following the plenary, participants will choose a breakout panel session to join. These sessions will have a narrow focus on specific, practical issues related to partnerships.

  • Promoting resilient communities through local partnerships and disaster-risk mitigation strategies

  • Reimagining capacity development in agriculture: An ecosystem approach

    Reserved-Seating Luncheon Discussion with Keynote Address

    The lunch hour will facilitate networking and discussion. All participants will have assigned seating and tables will be designed to match-up participants who may find value in meeting.

    Workshops

    Following the luncheon, we will create an opportunity for practical learning in an interactive setting. Participants may choose a workshop that best matches their interests. Workshop session topics may include a focus on education, health/nutrition, governance, monitoring and evaluation, and resilience to be confirmed.

    Learn about various government agencies’ projects, programs and priorities in Ethiopia and the region.

    *Note: morning sessions are only open to participants accepted to the Partnerships Forum. Participants from the Career Forum beginning at 12pm on October 22nd will not be permitted into these sessions.
