About the event

Just over a year ago, the World Bank announced a COVID-19 response package of $160 billion to last until June 2021.

Its project pipeline for Africa is higher than for any other world region, and additional financing projects related to the bank’s COVID-19 package have started to emerge.

Magnus Lindelow, World Bank practice manager for health, nutrition and population, Africa region, talks to Devex about the bank’s successes and challenges in funding and procurement over the past year — from fast-tracking project approval to working from home. He’ll also address practical questions about engaging with implementing organizations and other stakeholders.

Magnus Lindelow is the Practice Manager for Health, Nutrition and Population for the Africa region at the World Bank. He has worked extensively in East Asia, Latin America and Africa, and most recently held the position of Program Leader for Human Development in the World Bank’s Country Office in Brazil. He has published books and research articles on impact evaluation of health sector programs, distributional issues in the health sector, public finance, service delivery, poverty and other topics. Prior to joining the World Bank, Magnus Lindelow worked as an economist in the Ministry of Planning and Finance in the Mozambique and as a consultant on public finance and health sector issues.
