DEVEX WORLD FAQ

Devex World is the flagship event of Devex, the media platform for the global development community. It is a high-profile event on the global development calendar held every two years. Approximately 1,000 development leaders and practitioners attend in-person, and thousands more join online. Speakers and attendees include leaders of major global development organizations, technologists, philanthropists, investors, practitioners, and prominent individuals of all kinds.

Devex World 2022 will be held in-person in Washington, D.C. and online.
In-person tickets to Devex World 2022 are fully refundable until June 1, 2022. That means you will receive 100% of the price you paid refunded to you, no questions asked.

This is a policy we have put in place due to the evolving health situation. Our only stipulation is that you make your refund request before June 1, 2022, since we’ll be holding your spot for in-person workshops, roundtable discussions, networking lunches, and our famous afterparty. If you request a refund between June 1 and July 1, 2022, we will provide a 50% refund. There will be no refunds after July 1, 2022.

If for any reason Devex must cancel all in-person sessions of Devex World 2022, we will provide the maximum possible notice to all ticket holders and we will provide full refunds no matter the date.

Tickets are charged separately from your Devex Pro subscription. If you would like to cancel Devex Pro, please refer to the refund policies for Devex Pro, our premium news subscription.

Due to the evolving health situation and the new normal under the COVID-19 pandemic, Devex World 2022 will allow speakers to join our panels remotely. Certain portions of the event will also be livestreamed to a global audience who cannot attend in person. Most of the program will be recorded so you can watch them whenever you want after the event.
The full program will be provided to ticket holders on June 1, 2022.

What we can tell you now is that Devex World 2022 will once again feature five thematic tracks:
  • The data revolution.
  • From storytelling to movement-building.
  • Innovating at scale.
  • New funding models.
  • Business transforming development.
The tracks help to frame a program that is oriented toward the future. We do address sectors in the program — including global health, agriculture, and education — but only through the framework of these thematic tracks. The result is a program that challenges conventional thinking and opens up opportunities for new partnerships and approaches.

As an event run by journalists, Devex World is very much rooted in the current context. For Devex World 2022, we will of course shine a spotlight on the pandemic and its ongoing ripple effects. We will also discuss the effects of climate change and implications for global development funding and collaboration. And we will dig into the new technologies, billionaire philanthropists, and bold ideas challenging traditional approaches.
Devex World is a unique event on the global development calendar.

Unlike official convenings, Devex World is organized and ran by journalists. The result is an event that is more challenging, thought-provoking, and engaging than many official summits and conferences.

Devex World is designed as a chance to think big, in practical terms. It’s an event about the future and innovation. As a result, it brings together — and levels the playing field — among a wide range of people.

You’ll see venture capitalists speaking with policy advocates; social entrepreneurs rubbing shoulders with philanthropists; Hollywood celebrities huddling with NGO chiefs.

Devex World is held at the Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C. The vibe is dynamic, innovative, and fun — perfect for getting to know some of the most incredible people driving global development forward.
For those joining us in-person, come ready to engage that means smart casual attire, comfortable shoes, and our mobile app already downloaded on your phone.
