DEVEX WORLD FAQ

Devex World is a chance to think big, in practical terms. For us, it's not enough to say there is a greater diversity of funding sources: we'll highlight how to tap them. It's not enough to paint the vision of a technology-driven future: we'll roll-up our sleeves to understand what it means for your programs and operations and how you can gain advantage.

This year, talks, workshops, in-depth interviews, and group conversations will cluster around a few core themes, among them:

The Data Revolution
From Storytelling to Movement-Building
Innovating at Scale
New Funding Models
Business Transforming Development
We are purposely planning Devex World as a one day event so that you and your colleagues can arrange meetings with potential partners and donor agencies while in town. The World Bank, USAID, IADB, MCC, and PAHO all have offices in Washington and our membership team are available to provide suggestions on other key potential organizations to meet with during your visit.
Devex World will be a unique event for several reasons.

Devex is organizing a global event for 500+ people that happens to take place in Washington. We will be convening the private sector, foundations, donors and development implementers from around the world for a one day event looking at the future of global development.

Rather than segment our audience by sector, we will have a multifaceted dialogue bringing representatives from various sectors together to discuss the following themes: innovating at scale, data, revolution, new funding models, business transforming development and from storytelling to movement building.

Devex World will be a dynamic event and not a series of panel presentations. The day will consist of several workshops, TED-style talks, rapid interviews, an innovation zone and other interactive sessions to not only hear from our presenters but also engage our community of experts attending the event.

We also don’t want Devex World to be a great one-day event, we want it to be a moment in time that is part of an ongoing dialogue with editorial coverage before, during and after Devex World to continue the conversation on advancing economic development globally.
No. As a policy, Devex does not sponsor anyone for travel, visa, or other related expenses. We regret that this might prohibit some from attending. We will, however, be providing extensive editorial coverage of the event for anyone who is unable to attend in-person. You can check it out here.
Check out our editorial coverage of Devex World. We want you to be part of it, even if you can't join us in person!
We currently have all the volunteers we need, however, we will be posting an announcement should we need additional support closer to the event.
Tickets are transferable but non-refundable, so while we cannot refund your money, you may reassign the ticket to a colleague.
US consulates do not require letters of invitations and visas are granted based solely on the merit of the applicant. As a result, Devex will not be providing letters of invitation. Delegates are responsible for securing their own visas to come to the United States.
Yes, the government rate applies to delegates who wish to attend and work for any bilateral or multilateral government. International NGOs are not considered under this registration tier.
Bring your business cards, comfortable shoes, and a mobile device to download our event app.
Attendees should plan to arrive no later than 8am for check-in. Our opening plenary will begin at 8:30AM and the event will wrap up around 7:00pm, however there will be a late night after-party which you may also wish to attend.
While this is a professional event, we encourage you to leave your suit coats and ties at home! Come in smart casual attire and get ready to roll up your sleeves.

Yes! We’ll have our own event app with all of the information you’ll need to make the most of your day. This will be shared with attendees in early June.
