African energy is undergoing a fundamental shift: What was once viewed solely as a development necessity is now emerging as a compelling commercial opportunity and a scalable, institutional-grade asset class. With 600 million people lacking reliable electricity across the continent, bridging the $25 billion annual financing gap requires a sophisticated capital architecture that moves sustainable energy into the mainstream of global finance.
To help achieve this, Devex, in partnership with Africa50, is hosting an event to explore the road map for scaling what works. The event will delve into the transition from pilots to portfolios, focusing on the de-risked financing models and structured "capital stack" required to align global development goals with the rigorous requirements of institutional investors.
The session aims to position sustainable energy as a viable, bankable business opportunity by highlighting the successful models and reforms already creating scale. The discussion will identify how to mobilize global capital to unlock Africa’s renewable potential through mainstream, long-term investment.
This agenda is evolving and subject to change. Check back for more updates!
