Inequality and the marginalization of women, Indigenous Peoples, and rural communities is driving political unrest, challenging conventional development models, and increasing calls for social, economic, and environmental security across the globe. Today, nearly a third of the world's population does not have secure rights to the lands and forests they customarily claim. This insecurity undermines global progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and the climate change commitments of the Paris Agreement.


We invite you to join us for one of the largest international conferences advancing joint efforts to secure the land and resource rights of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and women.


Today, there are unprecedented commitments by governments, the private sector, and the international community to respect community and indigenous land rights as a solution to global inequality, conflict, and an increasingly unstable climate. A new set of tools and initiatives is already supporting efforts to scale-up rights recognition. However, the pressure on community lands continue to grow, community members who protect their rights do so at grave risk, and women who are increasingly playing a leading role in forest and land management continue to face injustice in both land rights and governance.


This October, we'll convene to discuss our shared progress and devise strategies for an even more consolidated effort moving forward. We'll also explore what new technologies and innovations can help us reach our shared goals.

The location

The two-day conference will be held at Vår Gård in Saltsjöbaden, located around 30 minutes from central Stockholm. Surrounded by the Swedish capital's archipelago, we hope the location will inspire you and provide a pleasant conference environment in close proximity to nature.


Meals & Accommodation

There are a limited number of rooms reserved at Vår Gård, which will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. If additional rooms are needed, we invite attendees looking for a conveniently located hotel to book a room at Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden located only 300 meters from the venue.


All meals will be provided during the two days of the conference.

Applying for a visa to attend the conference

Do you need a visa for entry into Sweden? You'll find a list of foreign citizens requiring a visa here. If you require a letter of invitation to apply for a visa, further information is requested in the registration form. It is the responsibility of each conference participant to ensure they apply for and obtain a visa, if required. Swedish partner, SIANI, is happy to help with a letter of invitation through the registration process.


We highly recommend that any attendees in need of a visa register as soon as possible in order for their visa to be issued in time for the conference.
