Life in the Field: Careers in humanitarian response

What is it like managing a 24,000 person IDP camp in Darfur? What does researching the lives of former child soldiers in West Africa entail? What are the professional challenges that go along with working in post-tsunami Sri Lanka and Indonesia and after the Haiti earthquake? Jessica will be discussing her experience working in the field and at headquarters for humanitarian organizations over the past 15 years. She will be debunking some of the myths that people have about humanitarian aid, the people who work in this career and the jobs that they do. She'll also be referencing her book: "Chasing Chaos: My Decade In and Out of Humanitarian Aid."
