A Devex event in partnership with Medtronic LABS

How AI can enhance
health service delivery
at the last mile

Wednesday, May 29 |10:30 - 11:30 a.m. CEST

About the Event

If properly implemented, artificial intelligence technology may not only improve the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, alongside overall patient outcomes within the primary health care system, but it could also support wider public health provisions. Based on machine learning, AI can process large amounts of information across various modalities, from images and audio to genomic data, therefore helping public health become more accurate, responsive, and equitable.

However, amid the growing adoption of these new technologies across various industries, including in health care and medicine, public attitudes toward AI are continuing to take shape. This is partially due to concerns over data protection, privacy, and security, demonstrating how AI must be supported with robust legal and regulatory frameworks if it is to reach its true potential when it comes to widespread implementation. With racial and ethnic bias in health care as another key issue, artificial intelligence should also prioritize ethics and human rights to avoid flawed and biased algorithms that only increase societal inequalities.

Hosted by Devex in partnership with Medtronic LABS, this event will investigate how AI can provide effective digital health solutions. Discussions will also bring together a range of digital health stakeholders to address how the knowledge of on-the-ground community health workers plays a key role, alongside the use of accurate, high-quality data, in improving the provision of health care through both primary settings and public health functions.

Join us online or at the Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva on the occasion of the 77th World Health Assembly as we explore how AI can enhance health service delivery at the last mile.
