Before starting at Devex, most of Amber's professional experience involved teaching and tutoring, something she has always enjoyed doing. She worked as a volunteer teacher in Amsterdam with an amazing organization that helped Spanish and Latin American immigrants find their way in the Netherlands. She also worked on an international small scale ‘Smart Cities’ conference in Denmark, aimed at connecting Dutch and Danish innovators in tech and education. Over the past seven years, she has studied linguistics and political communication science, combining two of her big interests. Language has always interested her and Amber's always keen on learning a new language.

Another big passion is food, it’s such a wonderful way of uniting people and showing love to anyone sitting at your dinner table. She has always been interested in cooking and as a kid already spent a lot of time learning from her parents and grandparents; who knows, maybe someday she’ll write a cookbook.

The unifying factor in most things Amber has done and enjoys doing is that she loves people. This is also what led her to global development and working with Devex.

She strives to bring about positivity and kindness in anything she does, and always shows empathy. The world would be a lovely place if there was a little more empathy everywhere.
