Søren Peter Andreasen is the General Manager of the EDFI Association and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EDFI Management Company, working to promote the work of EDFI's members: 15 European bilateral development finance institutions that invest in the private sector in emerging and frontier markets to create jobs, boost growth and fight poverty. He has previously served as a Managing Director at Commons Consultants; as Co-founding Partner at Dalberg Global Development Advisors; and as an Associate with McKinsey & Company.

Semya Ayoubi

Chief Economist, Federal Department of Federal Affairs, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation

Ms. Semya Ayoubi has been serving as a Chief Economist for the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs since November 2018. She provides advice to the directorate of the SDC and reports directly to its Director. SDC is part of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). Prior to this position, Mrs. Ayoubi was appointed by the Foreign Minister and Head of FDFA, as Deputy Secretary General. .

Clara Barby

CEO, Impact Management Project

Clara is currently on secondment from Bridges as Chief Executive of the Impact Management Project, a forum for building global consensus on how to measure and manage impact. Clara previously led Bridges’ impact strategy throughout the investment cycle – from defining the strategy and process for selecting impact investments, to engaging with portfolio companies to create additional value through environmental and social factors, to tracking and reporting results to our investors and other stakeholders. In addition to growing impact through our funds, Clara also led Bridges Impact+’s research and development efforts to promote the growth of the wider sustainable and impact investment sector.

Dr. Tamsyn Barton

Chief Commissioner, ICAI

Tamsyn has 25 years’ experience working in international development, delivering and overseeing a wide variety of programmes including those run by UK government, small NGOs and International Financial Institutions. Tamsyn has worked in a variety of policy and management roles. Most recently before joining ICAI, Tamsyn was the Chief Executive of Bond, the umbrella body for UK-based international civil society organisations. Her professional background is in social development and she has a long experience of delivering and overseeing evaluations and reviews, following an early career as academic historian. Tamsyn is also a trustee of SOAS, University of London.

Lorenzo Bernasconi

Senior Associate Director, Innovative Finance, The Rockefeller Foundation

Lorenzo Bernasconi joined The Rockefeller Foundation in 2013. As Senior Associate Director, he is responsible for the Foundation’s innovative finance and impact investing portfolio. His work focuses on identifying and shaping new financing solutions that unlock private sector capital to address the world’s most critical problems with a focus on the Foundation’s dual goals of building resilience and promoting inclusive economies. Prior to joining The Rockefeller Foundation, he worked at Dalberg Global Development Advisors, the Boston Consulting Group and in the investment banking division of UBS.

Sean Cairncross

CEO, Millennium Challenge Corporation

Sean Cairncross was nominated by President Donald J. Trump to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation on January 8, 2018 and was sworn in on June 24, 2019. As CEO, Mr. Cairncross leads the agency and provides strategic direction and vision as MCC fulfills its mission of reducing poverty through economic growth and advancing America’s interests around the globe. Prior to joining MCC, Mr. Cairncross served as a Deputy Assistant to President Trump and Senior Advisor to the White House Chief of Staff. Before his work at the White House, Mr. Cairncross served as the Chief Operating Officer of the Republican National Committee for the 2016 election cycle.

Christopher Clubb

Managing Director, Convergence Blended Finance

Christopher Clubb has 25 years experience financing development projects in more than sixty emerging and frontier markets. Since 2016, Chris has been Managing Director at Convergence Blended Finance (i) mobilizing development and commercial capital to developing countries to concurrently achieve development and investment objectives and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Prior to joining Convergence, he was the Director leading European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) financing/investment activities in its early transition countries where EBRD increased its annual investments five-fold to become the largest investor in these low-income countries. While at EBRD, Chris innovated and implemented in partnership with more than 20 donors many of EBRD’s blended finance programs – including the leading local currency program for SME finance and development.

Elizabeth Boggs Davidsen

Director, SDG Impact, UNDP

Elizabeth Boggs Davidsen is a leader and development practitioner optimistic about achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Currently, she is launching a private sector initiative at the UN Development Program to leverage private sector financing through partnerships and innovative financial structures. She looks forward to bringing together private sector, government, philanthropic and civil society actors to build the business case for private sector investment in the SDGs.

Alexander Hadden

Director of Structured Finance, OPIC

Mr. Alexander Hadden is a Director with the Structured Finance & Insurance Department at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. Government’s development finance institution. OPIC mobilizes private capital to help solve critical development challenges and in doing so, advances U.S. foreign policy. In his current role, Mr. Hadden originates and underwrites project finance, commercial finance and risk sharing frameworks for investments in emerging markets. Most recently, he has been active underwriting investments in mobile and fixed broadband operators in Latin America and South Asia. Previously, with OPIC’s Investment Funds Department, he monitored the performance of OPIC financing for private equity funds, including investments in East African telecommunications. Prior to joining OPIC, Mr. Hadden was a capacity building specialist with the public-private partnership (PPP) unit at Tetra Tech Inc.

Deniz Harut

Executive Director - Sustainable Finance, Standard Chartered Bank

Deniz is an Executive Director at SCB’s Sustainable Finance team based in London currently focused on driving sustainable finance to where it matters most. She has over 13 years’ experience in emerging markets across diverse geographies and sectors providing a full range of financial services (capital markets, advisory, treasury management, sales and trading). In her current capacity, she actively originates, develops and implements client strategies for Sustainable Finance products. Deniz has a long track record of successfully guiding private sector, multilateral and public-sector clients and specializes in international development, blended finance and impact investing. During the Ebola crisis in West Africa, Deniz successfully raised funds for Sierra Leone supporting financial inclusion & economic growth. She currently is working on transitioning the fund to a pan-EM initiative.

Gerbrand Haverkamp

Executive Director, World Benchmarking Alliance

Gerbrand is responsible for the direction and daily operations of the World Benchmarking Alliance. He believes that society won’t progress without companies that align their business with societal interest. All of us should therefore have something to say on how we want companies to shape our lives and the world around us. Based on these societal expectations we can rightly credit companies that lead while holding others accountable, encouraging both to do better. He originally founded and led Index Initiative, one of WBA’s founding partners, in that capacity he led the global consultation on the WBA. Before founding Index Initiative he worked for the Dutch Government in the areas of inclusive business, sustainable agricultural supply chains and food security.

Peter Ib

CEO, BlueTown

Peter Ib is a visionary and execution oriented executive leader, with a strong track record of building winning teams and exceeding tough targets in a complex and fast moving R&D and business environment. He has 18 years experience in areas from SW development over project and program management, to tactical and strategic leadership of teams and change programs. His entire career has been spent in an international environment, providing a deep understanding of cooperation across time zones and cultures, especially Asia, UK and US.

Enrique Iglesias Rodriguez

Telecommunications Specialist, Inter-American Development Bank

Enrique Iglesias is a Telecommunications Specialist in the Division of Connectivity, Markets and Finance of the Inter-American Development Bank. His functions are based on support to the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean to develop agendas of broadband and digital economy through mechanisms of technical assistance and loan operations. He previously worked as a strategy and operations consultant based in Madrid where he had the opportunity to provide services to the leading telecommunications companies in Europe and Latin America. Mr Iglesias is a Telecommunications Engineer from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and holds a Master's Degree in Banking and Financial Markets from Universidad Carlos III in Madrid.

Sony Kapoor

Managing Director, Re-define

Sony Kapoor runs the international think tank RE-DEFINE, which works with governments, multilateral institutions and investors on economic policy, financial markets, development and sustainability. An economist, financial sector expert and development practitioner, Sony has been a Senior Visiting Fellow at the LSE's International Development and Government Departments, and at its European Institute and Systemic Risk Centre. He is a WEF Young Global Leader and an RSA Fellow, and member of the boards of Friends of Europe and Circular Norway.

Yasemin Saltuk Lamy

Deputy Chief Investment Officer, CDC Group

Yasemin Lamy joined CDC as Deputy CIO in August 2018. She is responsible for the Catalyst Strategies, a portfolio aimed at transformational, system-level impact and innovation across its target geographies of Africa and South Asia. Prior to CDC, she spent three years building two new portfolios for Omidyar Network: one portfolio to develop empowering digital identity technologies and one portfolio to establish a trendspotting capability. Previously, she worked across several different roles within capital markets at J.P. Morgan, starting out in fund-linked derivates and then as a credit derivatives analyst, before building and leading the impact investment platform for the firm.

Lord Malloch-Brown KCMG

Former United Nations Deputy Secretary-General

Mark Malloch‐Brown is a former number two in the United Nations and has served in the British Cabinet and Foreign Office. He is active in business and international affairs, and serves on several nonprofit boards, including the International Crisis Group. He is a senior advisor at Eurasia Group and serves on a number of global market commercial boards. He chairs Best for Britain, a group promoting debate on Britain’s relations with the European Union.

Shelley McKinley

Vice President, Technology and Corporate Responsibility, Microsoft

Shelley McKinley is the Vice President of Microsoft’s Technology and Corporate Responsibility group (TCR) based in Redmond, WA. TCR delivers on Microsoft’s mission of empowering every person and organization on the planet to achieve more by driving the use of technology to benefit society, through leadership and innovation of technology in Accessibility and Environmental Sustainability, connecting underserved communities with internet access, deeply engaging with civic leaders and universities on the use of technology, and driving the company’s overall corporate responsibility transparency as reported on Microsoft’s Corporate Social Responsibility Reports Hub.

Tarun Mehta

Partner & Head of Funds and Strategy, The Aavishkaar Group

Tarun Mehta is a Partner and Heads of Funds and Strategy, based out of Mumbai, at the Aavishkaar Group, which is a global pioneer in taking an entrepreneurship-based approach towards development. The Group is focused on developing the impact ecosystem in the continent of Asia and Africa and manages assets in excess of USD 1 Billion across Equity and Credit, with 5,000+ employees present across India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Kenya. Prior to joining the Aavishkaar Group, Tarun spent 18 years in private equity and investment banking in the United States, the Middle East, South and South East Asia. Tarun graduated from the University of Virginia where he majored in Accounting and Finance.

Mahmoud Mohieldin

Senior Vice President for the 2030 Agenda, United Nations Relations, and Partnerships, World Bank Group

Mahmoud Mohieldin is the World Bank Group Senior Vice President for the 2030 Development Agenda, United Nations Relations, and Partnerships. Before joining the World Bank, Mohieldin held numerous senior positions in the government of Egypt, including minister of investment from 2004 until 2010. He also served on several boards of directors, including the Central Bank of Egypt and the banking and corporate sector. He was a member of the Commission on Growth and Development and selected a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.

John Morris

Founding Partner & CEO, 17 Asset Management

John leads day to day operations and management of 17 AM and also serves as Managing Partner of Intentional Media. Previously, John co-founded Snowden Lane Advisors, a wealth management firm currently with $3.5 billion in assets. He also co-founded Clearbrook Global Advisors, an institutional asset management advisory firm that grew assets to over $20 billion in AUAs. Earlier, John spent 23 years at Merrill Lynch, 15 years working in London and Dubai, then New York where he was Chairman of Latin America and Head of International Product and Marketing. He and his wife live in Princeton, New Jersey, and are most often chasing one of their four daughters or two granddaughters.

Nick O'Donohoe

CEO, CDC Group

Nick O’Donohoe joined CDC as its Chief Executive in June 2017 and is also a member of the CDC Board. He was previously a Senior Adviser to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation where he specialised in the use of blended finance models to support the work of the Foundation. Prior to taking this role, Nick co-founded, with Sir Ronald Cohen, Big Society Capital (BSC). He served as its Chief Executive Officer from 2011 to December 2015. BSC is an independent financial institution established by the UK Government as “the world’s first social investment bank” and is capitalised with unclaimed UK bank accounts and investment by the largest UK banks.

Karima Ola

Partner, Leapfrog Investments

Karima is a Partner focused on African investments. A deeply experienced operator and investor, she has significant experience working across the continent. Karima is widely recognised for her work shaping the investment landscape in Africa and was recently named one of “Africa’s women to watch” by Bloomberg. Previously, Karima was Chief Investment Officer and a member of the board at ADC African Development Corporation, where she initiated the company’s entry into Nigeria and ran a number of multimillion-dollar transactions. Prior to this, she was a Managing Partner at Chayton Capital LLP, where she led the creation of the company’s first Africa Agriculture fund. Earlier, Karima was Executive Director, Global Equities, at HSBC in a role that spanned the UK, Hong Kong and South Africa.

Jeremy Oppenheim

Senior Managing Partner, SYSTEMIQ

Jeremy was a senior partner at McKinsey until April 2016, where he worked for 24 years serving some of the world’s leading companies in the finance, consumer goods, technology, healthcare and energy sectors. He worked extensively with multilateral development banks, the United Nations and governments in both developed and developing countries. In 2007, he set up McKinsey’s Sustainability & Resource Productivity Practice, supporting ambitious public, philanthropic and private sector clients to put in place low-carbon, resource-efficient strategies. Prior to this, Jeremy worked at the World Bank from 1988-1993, specialising in economic transformation programmes for middle-income countries. In 2013-2014, Jeremy was programme director of the New Climate Economy project. He sits on a number of non-profit boards, including Global Action Plan (as Chair), the Woods Hole Research Center and Rare (UK). Together with Martin Stuchtey, he is a founder and managing partner of SYSTEMIQ.

Haje Schütte

Head, Financing for Sustainable Development Division, OECD

Haje Schütte is a senior development banker with over 20 years in policy positions and investment operations at KfW Group and the OECD. Haje has a track record in institution building and change management, having worked in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. At the OECD Haje leads work on how to address the dual challenge at the core of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development , i.e. how to mobilize unprecedented volumes of resources and leave no-one behind. He oversees the provision of data, standards and policy guidance on financing for sustainable development to OECD Members, the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and other key stakeholders.

Philippe Valahu

CEO, Private Infrastructure Development Group

Philippe joined PIDG as Chief Executive Officer in 2014. He is a member of the PIDG Ltd. Credit, Investment and Divestment Asia, and HSES Committees. He is also Chair of the Board of InfraCo Africa. He has 28 years of international experience in emerging markets infrastructure project and export finance and risk management. Prior to joining PIDG, Philippe helped set up an infrastructure finance advisory firm and was responsible for workouts and restructuring in Depfa Bank’s emerging markets fixed income team and structured export finance within its infrastructure finance unit.

Alix Peterson Zwane

CEO, Global Innovation Fund

Alix Peterson Zwane is Chief Executive Officer of the Global Innovation Fund. She has 20 years of experience advancing the agenda of evidence-based aid and international development as an investor, a social entrepreneur, and an innovator herself. Alix has worked at the intersection of the evidence and innovation agendas from a diverse set of posts. She was the first employee and Executive Director at Evidence Action, a non-profit that develops service delivery models to scale evidence-based programs. Under Alix’s leadership, Evidence Action catalyzed school-based deworming for hundreds of millions of children around the world, and safe drinking water for millions of people in four countries. Alix launched Evidence Action Beta, an incubator for innovations in development.
